Congress Is Too Busy to Read It’s Own Bills

House Judi­ciary Com­mit­tee chair­man John Cony­ers (D-MI) has prob­a­bly done more to throw a lead anchor around the neck of a health reform bill that’s barely tread­ing water than any other man or woman or film­maker alive.

Not only that, he’s exposes, inad­ver­tently, what Con­gress really is:

In response to the habit of our liberal and con­ser­v­a­tive representative’s habit of being too busy to read their own bills, com­mon ordi­nary peo­ple, who have real jobs, have now taken it upon them­selves to find extra time dur­ing their day to try to read & under­stand the damn health care reform bill. • This is a good idea but prob­a­bly a lost cause because we’re talk­ing about, you know, the peo­ple who rep­re­sent us, and they cer­tainty don’t have the time to do that: — polit­i­cal jun­kets are time consuming!
